Application / Specification

Because PPC 1121 is an engineered composite material, combining plastic resin chemicals and aggregates, contractors, as well as engineers, need to be trained in the correct development of specifications, proper surface preparation, proper design and utilization of mixing and placing equipment, and training with the safe use of all chemicals involved. Hundreds of contractors have used PPC 1121 components successfully because of Kwik Bond's support and training programs.

Specialty equipment, including positive displacement polyester pumping equipment combined with volumetric concrete mixers and two track slip form paving machines, allows for high volume, precision placement of a lane mile or more of PPC polymer overlay in a night's work. Two hours after paving completion, lane control is picked up and the lane is re-opened to traffic. For small projects in remote areas, truss-framed vibratory screeds and standard 9 cubic foot mortar mixers have been used successfully. Some patching projects use even smaller 5 gallon mixers yielding the same successful result.
